Parent and Carer Support
At Lexden Springs, we believe that the key to every pupil’s success is open, honest communication with families, and our team of Family Liaison Officers play an important part in making that happen.
A Family Liaison Officer (FLO) is there to support families, strengthen communication between home and school, and help parents feel confident, informed, and connected. They build positive relationships, offer practical help, and make sure families know they’re never facing challenges alone.
Our FLOs are also trained to Safeguarding Level 3 and play an active, hands on role in keeping our whole school community safe. As part of this, they work as Assistant Safeguarding Leads, supporting the wider safeguarding team, contributing to decision making, and helping ensure that concerns are identified, responded to, and followed up with care and consistency.
What a FLO can do to support you and your family:
- Provide practical support with paperwork, including bus pass applications, charity funding requests and housing-related letters.
- Offer a friendly, non-judgemental listening ear and help families think through practical solutions after challenging days.
- Host relaxed coffee mornings and informal drop-in sessions for parents and carers
- Organise and deliver a range of parenting workshops
- Attend parents’ evening to offer guidance, reassurance, and support
- Signpost families to helpful SEN organisations, services, activities and workshops
- Make referrals to external agencies such as CLDS, CAMHS, and Social Care when needed
- Carry out home visits to offer support in a familiar environment
