For some pupils, learning letter sounds is either inappropriate or they are not yet developmentally ready for this; therefore Phase 1 of Bug Club Phonics is a really important aspect of the scheme. This involves lots of listening and sound activities linked to key texts:

  • Focus and Attention Skills
  • Environmental Sounds
  • Instrumental Sounds
  • Body Percussion
  • Rhythm and Ryhme
  • Alliteration
  • Voice Sounds
