School Ethos and Values

Attend · Aspire · Achieve
‘Working together to achieve the best outcomes.’

School Ethos:

At Lexden Springs School, we believe that all pupils are entitled to develop to their fullest potential: academically, socially, emotionally, physically, morally, spiritually and aesthetically. Through this holistic approach, pupils grow in confidence and are supported to participate meaningfully in the wider community.

School leadership is committed to being reflective, evaluative and outward-looking in all aspects of school life. We aim to raise achievement through active, independent learning, working in close partnership with parents and carers whose support is vital to pupil success.

Our Aims:

In support of our ethos, we seek to ensure that:

  • The curriculum is broad, balanced, coherent and relevant, enabling all pupils to access meaningful learning opportunities. Staff maintain high expectations and consistently encourage pupils to work to the fullest extent of their capabilities across all areas of the curriculum.
  • The school strives to recruit and retain highly skilled, motivated staff who are committed to continual improvement.
  • The physical and mental health of all pupils is a priority. In partnership with governors, we promote healthy lifestyles through regular physical activity, healthy eating and a wide range of curricular and extra-curricular experiences that support personal and social development.
  • Strong emphasis is placed on personal development, independence, self-discipline and self-esteem. Skills for life, self-motivation and resilience are actively promoted. Pupils are encouraged to play an active role within the school and the wider community, developing respect and sensitivity towards the needs and feelings of others, regardless of differences.
  • The school provides a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment for pupils, staff, visitors and partners. We work to ensure that all children feel safe, secure and happy, enabling them to thrive. Each pupil is valued as an individual, supported to develop a positive self-image, self-discipline, respect for others, and the confidence to make informed choices and decisions.
  • Pupils are supported in developing personal, spiritual and moral values, alongside an understanding of different religions and beliefs, and a tolerance of diverse cultures and ways of life.
  • Equal opportunities are promoted and upheld for all pupils.

Our School Objectives

  • To become an outstanding all-age Special School, effectively meeting the needs of pupils with a widening range of learning difficulties, and achieving high standards balanced by realistic expectations.
  • To develop as a centre of lifelong learning, where staff are supported to enhance their professional skills, share best practice and contribute to the school’s shared vision through effective communication.
  • To continue to strengthen personalised learning through individualised study programmes.
  • To ensure rigorous school development through ongoing cycles of monitoring, evaluation and improvement, remaining flexible and responsive to new challenges. This includes appropriate provision for the Early Years Foundation Stage and Post-16 learners.

Our Values

At Lexden Springs School, we believe that all pupils are entitled to achieve their fullest potential in every aspect of development. Through active, independent learning and strong partnerships with parents, we strive to nurture confident individuals who are prepared to engage positively with their communities. Leadership remains reflective, evaluative and outward-looking, ensuring continuous growth and improvement across the school.
