School Curriculum

At Lexden Springs, our curriculum prepares pupils for adulthood and learning is personalised through EHCP outcomes and delivered through five curriculum areas. We focus on meaningful, engaging experiences that support wellbeing, confidence and lifelong learning.

Statutory Curriculum Areas

We deliver statutory areas such as PSHE/SRE, Physical Education and Religious Education in ways that are meaningful, accessible and appropriate to each pupil’s developmental stage. Learning is adapted and supported by specialist staff and external agencies where needed.

Parents and carers may request that their child is withdrawn from some or all of the non-statutory Sex Education content delivered at secondary level.

Requests should be made in writing to the Headteacher via admin@lexdensprings.essex.sch.uk. A meeting will be arranged to discuss the request, explain the curriculum content, and consider the pupil's individual needs before a decision is made in line with Department for Education guidance.

Parents will be informed in advance of sensitive RSHE topics and are encouraged to contact the school's RSHE Lead or their child's Class Teacher with any questions. Curriculum plans and resources can also be viewed on request, subject to safeguarding, confidentiality, and licensing requirements.

Preparing for Adulthood (Post-19)

We continue to track pupils for three years after they leave Lexden Springs to understand their transition into adult services and celebrate their achievements. This helps us evaluate the long‑term impact of our curriculum and support successful transitions.
